I know with all my heart and soul that the Lord loves us all, everyone and desires that we return to him. If we follow him, obey is commandments and keep our covenants He will keep us in the palm of his hand and heal and save this promised land.
The scriptures and the prophecies are clear on this very fact. We live in a promised and treasured land. I love this country and all it stands for. Yes, we will go through turbulent times. However, we have the promise that if we follow the Prophet and do all in our power to preserve ,the Constitutions of the United States that was divinely given to our Founding Fathers; this land will be preserved. We must never loose hope in the promise's given.
In The Book of Mormon the following thoughts are referenced below:
"Nephi spoke prophetically about the promised land on which they now stood. He spoke of its relationship to the restoration of the gospel in the latter days, together with the bringing of that gospel to the scattered remnants of their own seed.
And after our seed is scattered the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed; wherefore, it is likened unto their being nourished by the Gentiles and being carried in their arms and upon their shoulders.
And it shall also be of worth unto the Gentiles; and not only unto the Gentiles but unto all the house of Israel, unto the making known of the covenants of the Father of heaven unto Abraham, saying: In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. (1 Nephi 22:7–9.)
How that understanding of God’s plan must have thrilled Nephi! To the blessings inherent in possessing the promised land and keeping the covenants, there was the added knowledge that this land would one day be the citadel of freedom essential to the restoration of the gospel. It would be God’s “base of operations” for sending the gospel to the nations of the world prior to the second coming of Jesus Christ."

Our responsibility is to pray for and be involved in service to one another, to our families, our communities and our Nation. May we stand firm in our respect of our flag, our National Anthem, and the Constitution of the United States of America. May we teach our children and grandchildren to love and reverence these emblems of the freedoms that we have and cherish.

"From the holy scriptures we read, “Behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in [Him], they who have endured the crosses of the world, … they shall inherit the kingdom of God, … and their joy shall be full forever.” 9
I testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us.
My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith." Please take a moment and read Pres. Monson's entire message here.

Thank you for this post. I am still in tears over the election and Im sorry to hear about your son's loss too.
My heart aches for the Romneys and for our country. I will keep rereading your post.... and Pres. Monson's talk. I hope it is ok with you if I use some of your post on my blog.
It is a sad day for America but God is still our strength.
Amen, beautifully said.
Thanks for this beautiful message. I do love my Savior and love to read other's testimonies. It builds my own. Lots of love, Christy
I'm glad you posted about this. I have not found much in mainstream media about how so many are truly mourning the loss of the hope that came with a Romney/Ryan presidency. I am intrigued by Glenn Beck and other public figure Mormons' reactions to the loss.
My own convictions are that as covenant keeping members of the Church, we will be preserved, because we know that the church is here to stay and the priesthood will never be taken from the earth again.
But from reading the Book of Mormon, I do earnestly believe, as it is written, that when the majority of the voice of the people vote for, ask for, lifestyles that are contrary to God's will, He leaves them to themselves and does not guarantee freedom nor prosperity.
We face a future where the world our children will inherit will look like nothing like we ever could have imagined for them, or wanted to prepare them for.
That is the reality we are facing in this nation at this time. It is the path we are on as a country that is guaranteeing where we are going, and it is not one I wish to be on or go to.
What gives me peace is to know and understand that as I keep my sacred covenants, pay attention and follow current church leaders' counsel, seek for and follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost, and continue praying to my Heavenly Father, I trust that God will preserve me and my family.
Will that mean we will be unscathed by tragedy or difficulty? No, I don't believe so. We will need our faith in Jesus Christ to be unshakeable in the coming days.
I still pray for the government leaders and this nation and abide by its laws, but my hope for real economic recovery and moral stability recovering in the future are fading due to the show of support for liberal, left-leaning agendas at this time. It is a shame, and such a waste. It is discouraging that so many, many are blind and deceived.
But we, as anyone with a stitch of moral principles left, had better be on our guard, educating ourselves and showing up at the next opportunity to fight for what's right legally or abortion and all kinds of evil will be allowed to flow unabated. We can't give up that fight!
Blessed be the God who cares for us all now and will look over our children. I will continue to prepare my children to make sacred covenants to serve God and be a blessing in their own families and prepare for the future that God only knows is coming.
Amen! I couldn't agree with you more. I feel sad about the results, but I am not suprised by them. It is part of Gods plan for our country. It will just be really interesting to see where it leads up :)
Thanks for the great quotes!
It's true. The future is as bright as our faith.
I'm sad, though. I wish we all could have benefited from Romney's leadership.
=)
