A Prayer For Our Great Nation - My Thoughts On Mitt Romney ~

I am sure that most of us are tired of the ongoing political environment. However, I believe with all my heart that this election is one of the most important elections in all of US history. We are presently in the last days before our Savior's Second Coming. In many books of scriptures the prophecies of the last days are written such as in Isaiah in the Holy Bible and the Book of Revelations in the New Testament. . As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints we also believe in the writings of The Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants that verifies and clarifies many of these prophecies. We believe in the Constitution of the United States and all that it stands for. We feel and know that it is now hanging by a thread. We pray that the righteous God fearing people of this nation will vote for Mitt Romney this year. He with us are at this point of history where we need God fearing men to stop the failing of our great nation.

Yes, I love that Mitt Romney is a member of my faith. However, above and beyond that fact I believe with all my heart that he is a man on integrity, faith, hope and charity.
Mitt Romney is a family man. He is a devoted husband, father, grandfather. He raised his family with the values that he cherishes.
h

He is a man that doesn't just sit behind a desk but goes forward to do good for family and others.

In our faith he has contributed  his time and energies to help others in need. He has served in positions of leadership with great responsibilities in our religious organizations. He has served as a Bishop. This like a Pastor in another Christian faith.  During this time he has been responsible for all that are within his assigned ward boundary. As a Bishop with two counselors, he would be over a congregation of between 300 to 400 families and individuals. He would be responsible for their spiritual and temporal welfare. His Bishopric would work with the members and those in leadership positions. In our church there is the Priesthood for all the men and young me12 years and up; Primary for all the children, ages 18 months to 11 years age; Young Men and Young Women ages 12 - 18 years old; and the woman's organization called the Relief Society for those 18 years and older. Our Relief Society is the largest woman's organization in the world.  He would work closely with the leaders and especially the youth of his ward. In fact, that would be one of his most important responsibilities.  He would interview and counsel with his youth frequently. He would reach out with love and encouragement to those youth who were struggling. He would do all in his power to help them turn their lives around. He would guide those who were the teachers and leaders of the youth organization. He would mentor and love all of them. He would counsel with individuals and couples in need whether personal or temporal concern. I know that he would have spent hours on his knees in behalf of those he served within this ward. Above and beyond the hours that he would put in at his daytime job he would spend countless hours helping others within his ward. He would not receive one penny of pay for this work. He would do it because he loves the Lord, loves the people and believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Next, Mitt Romney served as a Stake President; usually this is for at least 10 years. Here again he would give countless hours of service without pay. He would be in charge of 6-9 wards with between 300-400 families in each ward. Here he would again be involved with interviewing and working with Bishops and other leaders of both the Stake and Wards. He would be holding a Stake Conference two times a year. Here he would with his presidency  plan the meetings to be held. They would have one or more messages to give at those meetings. These Conferences are attended by all the ward members of his Stake. Here he would be on his knees again to receive counsel from the Lord through the spirit as what his Stake members would need to help them in their everyday life. He and the other leaders in the Stake would attend ward conferences each year and here they would meet with the members of each ward. His Stake Presidency would also be interviewing members of their stake every two years to renew Temple recommends and preparing missionaries for service in countries throughout the world. He himself served a two year mission to France. He knows first hand the rigors of missionary service. There are also several Stake activities through the year that he would be responsible for.

There are guideline books, to explain all that he would gave done as a Bishop and Stake President.  Before even having these callings he would have held many positions within his ward and stake as a teacher or leader of an organization. He would be well qualified to accomplish these callings and assignment. His calling would come about through the prayers of those who are over him.
One calling that he would have had since a 14 year old youth would be an assignment as a home-teacher to at least 3-6 families and maybe more. He would be assigned with perhaps his father at first; or if the person doesn't have an father another good man to make these home visits with. Once he was older he would be assigned to go with one of the youth or with another man in the priesthood organization. A home teacher visits each of his assigned families at least once a month and more if there are needs. They typically give a message and then try to serve these families with anything that they see is needed. I am sure he has visited these individuals in times of needs and helped wherever and however he could.

Mitt Romney would also pay into his ward each year 10 % of what he earned to tithing and also make other contributions such as a generous fast offerings; to feed the poor and hungry, humanitarian aid, Missionary funds, ward and stake level; temple fund, for building temples and other such charity contributions. Our Church is usually one of the very first responders to bring Humanitarian aid to areas of destruction such as in the North East at this time.
This man is a praying man a very stalwart religious man. A devoted disciple of the Savior. He knows how to lead and love others. He loves and cherishes this great nation.
With his work background, Governorship, and Church responsibilities. He has learned lasting lessons of how to lead this great nation.

Meanwhile, just a brief thought about his wife Ann Romney. During all of these years she has also served in various ward and stake callings. She may have been part of a Relief Society, Primary, or Young Woman's Presidency. She has I am sure been a teacher in probably all of these areas. She would be and is a Visiting Teacher and that would mean that she and another sister would be assigned 4-5 or more sisters to visit each month and assist as needed. If there was a problem she would be there to help a sister during an illness, a new baby, a death or whatever else. Meals would be taken in, perhaps help with housework and other such services. She is also a woman of great faith and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her family. She will support him and make a wonderful First Lady.

To me Mitt and Ann Romney are my brother and sister because that is how we address one another in our ward and stakes. I know that they are good righteous people. I know that they love this nation and believe that it's constitution was framed by our founding fathers who believed in God and were inspired to write the Constitution of the United States.

If we want freedom to ring then we must pray and then through the spirit know in our heart that he is the man to become the next President of the United States.
May we all pray for this wonderful country and the freedoms we enjoy. May we study about and pray to know who we should vote for in our nation and in our individual states.

What a great way to explain some of the reasons to vote for Mitt Romney. I have already sent in my ballot doing just that!

And I am working on a post along the same lines as yours, but I am finding it a difficult one as I have so many feelings about it.

You did well here!

=)

Ann Romney was a temple worker in the Boston Temple for years too. She worked the same Saturday that my mom works. My mom said that she was there last Saturday. They are a god family. I grew up in an area not too far from where they live.

I will be casting my ballot for Mitt on Tuesday! Because it's late and I don't want to write too much, I'll just say that I'm voting for Mitt because he is a conservative and has the right stuff to lead this country. It doesn't have anything to do with his religion, although I'm glad to know he is a moral and godly man.
This is one of the most critical elections ever, IMO. I pray that the people in this country will wake up and realize what is at stake and vote for Mitt Romney.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

This is a wonderful explanation about Romney. There are so many misconceptions about Mormons, and it would sadden my heart to see him lose based on those thoughts. He is a wonderful, God-fearing man, and I for one would be proud to have him as my President. Thank you for your honesty and insights, LeAnn. Blessings!

Here's hoping! I'm so tense about this election I can't even turn the television on. I want to just check in on Thursday and see if he got it or not. I'm afraid to listen to it.

Hi LeAnn!

First of all let me just tell you that I am so sorry it has taken me this long to tell you that you were in my prayers regarding your surgery, and I still pray that you are recovering and getting better - you have a few more races to run!!

I am very anxious about the elections tomorrow - like everyone else, I just feel like our country needs a president who will represent and lead our country with faith and give us hope for a bright future!

I will be praying for Travis, he would make a wonderful sheriff - I wish I could vote for him!!

Hope to talk to you tomorrow! So glad that you could spend some time with the kids . . . you need to move to Idaho!!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

I appreciated learning more about Romney in the context of his faith. And yes, I do pray for our country. Many of us have different opinions about what our country needs, but we are all united in our concern and our prayers. No matter who wins the presidency today, that person will need the prayers of a nation to lead us forward.
