The year was 1963. Christmas was on it's way and to me it was a magical time of year. My boyfriend, Roger; my dear husband now had asked me to the winter dance at our High School. He always made our dates special. He was and is still a very romantic man. In those days the dances were held in the school gym and the decorations that year were spectacular. The theme for the dance was "Frosted Enchantment". This particular dance is a favorite memory of mine. My mother had made me a Blue Velvet dress. I truly felt like a Princess with my Prince Charming. When he came to pick me up I was just just head over heels in love with him. The dance was wonderful and we enjoyed every minute of it. Even today we enjoy dancing away even if just in our kitchen.
To make this sweet Christmas time even more memorable my dear husband made for me this Jewelry music Box, which is lined with material from the blue velvet dress I wore that night. Our own special song is "Blue Velvet" by Bobby Darin.
I do feel that Christmas is a time of year when we have precious moments of caring, sharing and loving one another more intensely. It is that unique moment of time when we pause and worship our King; our Savior Jesus Christ. Christmas's through the years have always held special memories.
I was asked recently to do a guest post for Mormon Moms. Take a moment and read more memories and traditions of our Christmas Celebrations. You can hop on over and read it here.
