Good News Sunday - Just Musing & LDS Humor

By the way, I need help taking down one of my Christmas Trees. I did read in one blog that a friend was keeping their Christmas Tree up year around and decorating it for each Holiday. I wonder if this idea will catch on quickly, so I can keep mine up.
Our Inner City Mission has been very busy this week for me. There have been some interesting Government issues. I have been trying to help a family get government housing assistance so they can get into an apartment. The family is finally at the top of the list. However, as part of the paperwork for this; the mother needed to give them her families Social Security information, all their Birth Certificates and valid Driver licenses. She had birth certificates for her children but neither her husband or her had certified copies. Her husband had a valid Drivers License but hers had expired. She has lost the Social Security Cards. In order to get a driver's license you have to have a birth certificate and your proof of Social Security Cards. In order to get replacements for your Social Security Cards you have to have a Valid driver's license. In order to get a Birth Certificate you need your Social Security card and your valid Drivers license. Are you confused now; I am. Through a few miracles; we almost have it put together. By next week if we don't get all of the paper work in they will lose their position in line for housing assistance. This is highly important since they are all most considered homeless.
Both my husband and I have been given new assignments at the Temple. I think this is good news?? We both enjoy working in the temple each Saturday morning. In fact it is our favorite place to be and our favorite Date. He was called to be the coordinator over about 85 men. He will be giving them assignments for the Saturday morning shift and coordinating the work.  I was called to be the instructor for the new women ordinance workers and responsible for the training on Saturday morning. We are feeling overwhelmed with these assignments; but we look forward to the challenge. In my mind the only difficult part of the assignment  at this moment is that we have to be at the temple on Saturday mornings at 3:45 am. I  do not do mornings well!
Here is some LDS humor - I am sure other faiths have similar moments.
Enjoy!!

Congrats on your new temple callings....but why so early??? Our coordinators don't need to be there until we all arrive. 3:45 would do me in for sure!!

I hope the mission red tape mess all works out. Good luck.

The humor made me laugh. Hugs, Lura

Love the cartoons! Congratulations on your new assignments at the temple. I was so happy I didn't have to be at the temple until 9:00 when I was supervisor on Friday's. I would never make it at 3:45 a.m. What a blessing you both will be and are to those you serve with in the temple as well as your inner city mission. Good luck with all the red tape. Thank you for always visiting my blog. I appreciate your comments.

I really didn't want to take down my tree this year, but I did. The house always looks so bare and dull after I take down the Christmas decor. At least to me.

Loved the comics. Funny! Good idea in the first one about switching pews!

3:45 would likely kill me as I am so not an early morning person! Good luck with that one, I will be praying for you and your husband on getting up at that time. :) Love the cartoons especially the first one, (everyone switch pews) that is so like my church, I swear I think some pews have people's names etched in them:)

It sounds like your mission puts you in a position to help people make major changes for the better. I'm sure it's frustrating at times - but how wonderful that you can do it.

I LOVE the cartoons. My husband doesn't even read my own blog, but I'll show him this post!

I just know you will enjoy your new Temple assignment, but I surely don't envy you having to get up so early. I'm afraid I would never make it.

The cartoons were fun and I don't usually read cartoons.

I can hardly believe that Debbie actually has a tree she decorates for all the holidays. More power to her, I guess. I surely didn't want to do it. Yes, I finally did get our Christmas tree down, or I should say my husband did.

My mother in law also has a tree that she changes out with each holiday. It's a skinny tree so it doesn't take up much room but it's always fun for the little grandkids to see the different items she's hung...especially when there's something for each of them, like a box of sweethearts at Valentines or a candycane at Christmas.

She was the women's coordinator on Thursday mornings, for quite a while, and loved it. She was always amazed at how helpful and willing everyone was if she needed to find a substitute or move people around a little. It was a real blessing to her. Good luck in your new temple callings. I can't wait for my turn to do that!

My MIL does that with her tree and it looks amazing! She has all handmade ornaments for each holiday.
